+300 on SAT or +6 on ACT in 3 months?

In May I took the SAT on scored a 1480 with minimal prep and in June I took the ACT and scored only a 20. Is it possible for me to boost my scores by 300 or 6 in 2 or 3 months? I currently have some reviews books for each exam and I plan on buying some additional ones full of practice problems such as the Princeton 1,296. I'm wondering whether I should attempt to re-take both or just focus on one exam. Any suggestions? My main concern right now is my exams scores, but my GPA and extra curriculars are strong.

I would focus strongly on improving one score. You might feel bogged down if you study rigorously for both.

Thanks, I’m trying to figure out which one will be easier to boost. I personally find the ACT a bit easier and understandable than the SAT; I’ll probably just stick with that. I just didn’t have time to prep since we had so many exams at the end of the year in school.

I was in the same position as you were. Did not study at all for the SATs and got a 1480 in the beginning of my junior year. I did very minimal prep for a while but ended up getting a 1770 5 months later. Now I’m actually studying very hard for it this summer and hoping to get a 2000+. I think the SAT is very easy to improve your scores with, because after taking the test once you are more at ease when you take the test. Also with prep, it makes so much easier. I recommend getting the blue book. Do the practice tests, and you will easily see a large raise in your score. I can’t comment on the ACT but I have heard it is easier to raise the SAT.

In 3 weeks I got 300+ (Not actual SAT, practice test)

So you can do it!!! Dont give up!

Thanks, I think I can do it. If you boosted by 300 points on the practice test, I’m sure the same thing would’ve happened on the real exam.

I would like to at least boost my score from a 1480 to a 1700 (+220). I’m currently a rising junior so I have the chance to retake the SAT in september and october.

P.S. When you refer to the blue book, are you talking about the CollegeBoard review book?
