<p>I just realized the why NU essay is 300 words long... I thought it was 500. Mine is 490... is that just TOO much?</p>

<p>it's really hard to trim these kind of essays down...i started with 360..i'm down to 320...i can't purge anymore. but 190 words over will make them frown...if ur doing online app...check if it'll even fit in the box.</p>

<p>When I did college apps, any time there was a word LIMIT I definitely stayed under the limit, no matter what the effort. If NU's wording is "recommended length" then I would say 50 words above is as far as you should go- 190 is definitely insane. To the person above: did you get in already?</p>
<p>If you print out the application, and your entire essay is viewable, you're all set.</p>
