30K loan every year

so UMD gave me 2K worth of scholarships.

and 120,000 worth of debt + interest seems insane, but i'm going into business and i plan to work like crazy to get a great job after undergrad and start paying off my loans.

in my opinion, i think UMD is a great school and it's worth it. what do you think, though?

Whiskers--That is a huge amount of debt........do you have parents who can help you out?

well yeah, i'm sure they can pay off SOMETHING...but we just bought a house and i'm not entirely sure how much they can pay off...

is it worth it, though? cuz i really like UMD...

Have you talked to your parents about the financial part of your college decision? It doesn't seem like it.

do you guys think that it's possible to call umd and ask them to relook at my file with my midyear report and whatnot to see if they will give me money merit money (now that many will be turning down the offered money for other schools)? Chances are i will be going to umd, but im still hesitant because of the price and just even a little bit more money would sway me. Does anyone know if people have been successful in the past and/or tips to possibly make them give me more money? Thanks

i think for them to rethink your financial package you would have to prove that your financial status has changed since you filed your FAFSA or that there was something they overlooked when making their decision. ive never heard of repealing for more merit money.
