31 ACT Advice?

English: 30
Science: 28
Reading: 34
Math: 32

Composite: 31

29--->31 no prep besides regular coursework

Since Yale accepts Feb. scores, should I take it again in Feb? I knew I wouldn't do well in science b/c I didn't finish, but English? gahh...I love English. I got a 33 on it the first time.

Any advice?

I was hoping to only send in my ACT score.

To be honest, once you pass the 30 mark, they don't care anymore.

It's like one of those things that they check off before moving on to other things like essay, recommendations, and ECs.

If your ECs, recs, grades, or essay are subpar, then even a 35 won't save you (speaking from personal experience -.- )

On the other hand, if every other component of your application is awesome, then they won't reject you for the ACT score.

Thanks. I guess I have a hard time believing that. I mean, if there's a big difference between a 2040 (roughly a 31) and a 2220 (33), wouldn't admissions officers care about that?

I think my recs, GPA, ECs are good, but I don't have any national awards or anything too spectacular.

I'm pretty sure there is quite a difference between a 31 and a 36. I wouldn't say something like "once you pass the 30 mark they don't care." Maybe a statement like "once you pass 34 they don't care", I can believe that.

I think you can try retaking, since the ACT doesn't automatically send all scores.

okay. I will try retaking. I sent Yale the 31 already, but if I let them know (via the common application, right?) that I'm taking it in Feb., will they hold off looking at that score?
