"Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today, Jan. 11, that Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded the university a major new $33 million grant to help transform undergraduate facilities at IU's Kelley School of Business in Bloomington.

This is the largest such grant ever received by the Kelley School in its 92-year history and one of the largest ever received by Indiana University.

"Planning for the project began in 2005, and trustees voted in December to begin construction this spring with the building's expansion, followed by renovation of the existing building -- one floor at a time. Both phases of the project are expected to be completed within three years."

This project has really been hit hard because of the economy over the past few years but when I got an email last week saying that Dean Smith wanted to meet with me and other Kelley student leaders about a big announcement regarding the undergraduate building, I was so excited. To know that I will get to take classes in the new exterior is even better!

I’m so glad they finally got all the funding for this, considering construction was supposed to start a year ago. I may have to stay for five years otherwise I’ll just be in the middle of construction…
