33 on ACT?

Hey guys,
I got a 33 on the ACT
32 Writing
33 Math
33 Reading
32 Science
Essay not scored yet

Should I keep testing if I am applying to elite schools?

I think not, if your GPA is sterling(with high course rigor) and EC’s are very prominent. With a killer essay, you should be able to apply for all elite schools.

@artloversplus‌ Thanks. Standardized testing is the last box I need to check so thanks for the opinion.

@ijustwantsuccess‌ I just looked at your Chance post. Your GPA is pretty good, and you EC’s are solid. You’ll be fine. I wouldn’t retake :)

I would actually say once you score 33 (granted no sub score under 30), you’re “qualified”. Doing better won’t really help! Of course it would look good, but it isn’t necessary.

Yea I got into some pretty good schools with a 32 so you’re cool.

Thanks a ton @Mlolo98‌
And thank you too @julijewelz !

Sure! :)

Getting better score will still help although the slope is not as steep. You do have a very even distribution of subscores. So retaking ACT should be on the bottom of your priority unless you are sure you will get 2 points or more higher.

Thanks @billcsho‌ I’ll probably leave it at 33 and keep working towards SAT

^^ Why do you have to take the SAT? Schools only require the ACT test if you did ACT with writing, which you did.

^ Perhaps for NMF verification.

^^ Thanks. Totally forgot that.

@awncntb I just don’t to be on the border for standarized testing because my GPA isn’t too hot (3.83 UW) with a 2130 SAT (710 on all 3)

I don’t think you can consider 33 border. Your 33 is equivalent to approx 2220

^^ OK, I got you. Your ACT though is considered much higher right now. Based on the concordance tables, you will have to get 2220 or higher to beat the 33.

@Mlolo98 - I think 2210 is the top range of a 33.

@Mlolo98‌ You are correct. A 33 fits in the middle 50% for all ivys. Interesting.

^^ I wouldn’t retake the SAT and would just go with the ACT. But you may think differently.

One thing you do need to watch out for is schools that do not count the writing. The concordance tables for the M+CR are different ranges. This may come in lower for some schools, but looks like you are still more than OK.

Still higher than my actual SAT M+CR Combined (1420), versus the 1460 with the 33 on the ACT.
