I’m a 33 year’s old married man to an awesome woman who is the mother of my 2 beautiful little girls (5 and 1 year old)
my dream is to soon get my associates degree.
2 days ago I realized how hard it’s going to be when I opened up that placement testing for the GED and I couldn’t begin to comprehend what I was looking at. the way I go though elementary school and middle school you wouldn’t believe,
the time has come for me to better myself for my beautiful family however, I don’t know where to begin to started. tutoring is very expensive and I need serious help. Please anyone help.
I looked up the sections of the GED online, and going from that, I think khan academy would help a ton! This is the best free source I know of, and it includes videos on basically every topic (but it’s very well organized). There are placement tests at least for math, so you can skip to where you need to work on. It has helped me at all levels of my schooling so far. Any video on YouTube is great for specific topics as well. Of course a lot of Internet searching can get you access to free txtbook PDFs and anything else. Maybe local libraries have enough study resources as well.
Some communites offer free GED classes, also check into local churches to ask about anyone willing to tutor you on the GED doesn’t have to be a church you belong to, you’d be surprised at how many people are will to help when asked.
Contact the guidance office of your local public high school, and see whether any of their teachers are interested in tutoring. It may cost youa bit, but could make a huge difference.
Don’t do the GED tutor until you talk to the community college academic advisors. There should be academic support available for the cost of community college tuition at worst. (In my state, high school completion classes are free for those under 21 only, but you’ll need to check with your own state.)
Which state do you live in? I dropped out of high school and got my GED. I took a class at a local public college. Some libraries and churches also offer GED classes for free. Google free GED classes and your city or town. Seriously, you shouldn’t have to pay for such classes or tutoring.
