With the ACT I got a 34 Composite Score. My subscores were (32 English) (36 Math) (36Reading) (30) Science. The thing is, I am planning on majoring in science. Will a 30 in science hurt me at all, despite that I got 36 in Math and Reading.

A 30 is still a decent score. The science section is very specific so I suggest you take plenty of practice tests and retake it again because most colleges will take your highest ACT score. Plus math is related to science and you have a great math score so I think you’re in pretty good shape.

The science questions on the ACT have very little to do with science. They test your ability to process and understand graphical data.

If you fell a need to show your competence in science, or if the more selective colleges on you list require that you do, then the SAT2 science subjects tests as for example physics would a better use of your future test taking time.

There is very little merit for you to retake the ACT.

Do not retake the ACT. It will make no sense, and not help you at all, at least in my opinion. Take SAT Subject Tests instead that relate to science. It shows you have a better competence in the subject.

Think of it this way. If you had taken the SAT there wouldn’t have been a science section. Take the Sat II’s in science subjects and math. 34 is really good unless you are trying for IVY’s.

A 34 is even good enough for the Ivy’s, though. A 33 is the average ACT for Harvard, so while a 34 won’t be held against you anywhere that you apply. If you do apply to the Ivy’s, they’ll mainly look at your ECs and essays, so I honestly think that your ACT score is fine. I’d stop stressing about it and focus on other parts of your app. (A fellow student with a 34 ACT)
