34 ACT 11e v. 2300 SAT
Which one is better and which one should I put on the CommonApp? What would be the advantages/disadvantages of reporting both scores? Can it hurt?

Go with the 2300. A 34 would be fairly comparable, but charts say a 34 is technically the equivalent of a 2260 on the SAT. Moreover, the SAT is more widely accepted. While the ACT has been gaining recognition in the west, most east coast schools will put more stock in the SAT and no school will reject the SAT. Plus, it also depends on whether those are your super scores or scores from one take. Most schools superscore SATs, but not ACTs.

Agree with the score interpretation. [The ACT | ACT-SAT Concordance | ACT](The ACT Test for Students | ACT).

The assertion that schools prefer one over the other is unsupported by evidence; indeed it is contrary to what schools say. If Michelle’s has evidence to support her position, she should post it.

The superstore comments are, I believe, correct.

Put both on the Common App. Having the two comparable scores may help reinforce the fact that your scores aren’t flukes. Plus, it’ll help you stand out. “Hey, look here, I got a good score on both the SAT and ACT while many are struggling to get good scores on just one.”

I agree on reporting both. And yes, your SAT score is a bit higher. But both test a little differently, so I think it is impressive to score well on both.

I’ll add my “vote” for sending both, for the reasons OhioMom states.
