34 on the ACT first time without preparing, is it worth retaking? Thanks so much.

<p>What kinds of schools are you aiming for? If you want to go to a top school then retake it for the math, because math is incredibly important and a 29 is not considered competitive. Practice math like it's your job and you could be looking at a 36. But make sure you don't slack off on the other sections because colleges/scholarships look a composite scores more often than individual sections (unlike the SAT).</p>

<p>I would recommend taking Math Level 2 regardless of whether you retake the ACT or not.</p>

<p>And percentile is irrelevant because being in the top 1% of all ACT test takers isn't the same as being in the top 15% of a highly competitive college's applicant pool.</p>

<p>I took your advice and spent two or three hours reviewing math before I took it again (all my schedule would allow :P) </p>

<p>I ended up with a 33 on the math portion! It gave me a 35 composite!</p>
