What should I plan to send next year (to HYP, amongst others)?

What’s the breakdown for the 2280 SAT? 35 ACT is generally stronger I think (it converts to a 2310-2350) ish. But if you have a high CR + M score on the 2280 SAT ( CR + M > 1560 ) you might consider sending both.

OK, they weren’t quite 1560 (1480, actually, 800 on writing).

Send both IMO.

Only send the ACT imo. 35 ACT is stronger than 1480 CR + math.

If you can, take a few subject tests and try to score 770+ on those.

What’s the rule of thumb for determining whether to send one or both? Like if one is 99th percentile, and the other is 80th percentile, I’d just send the 99th. But if they’re 99th and 98th, send both.
What’s the cutoff do you think?

I really don’t know. Your scores are close enough that it wouldn’t hurt to send both. It’s up to you. You might want to ask for advice in the College Admissions forum.

I like the ACT more for you, unless it is a coast school of course.

Unless the difference is significant, send both. And in your case, the scores are close enough that you should send the SAT score as well. The ACT broadly cites the range for 35 as 2290-2370 (centered around 2330).

Both. 10 char
