35 ACT, but only 1950 on SAT?

Asking for a friend of mine. He has 1950 SAT, but a 35 on the ACT. He has to submit SAT because of the SAT IIs and he is concerned that the low SAT scores is going to kill his chances despite the incredible ACT score. I think the SAT score wouldn't affect him negatively, but I wasn't sure. Anyone know?

Oh and I think his SAT II scores are great (three subject scores all over 750)

Most colleges superscore so your friend is fine.

Isn't superscoring taking the highest scores for each section on the SAT?

sorry I meant to say they take your best scores. So if your better score on the ACT they would only consider your ACT.

Okay that is what I though. But would it hurt him negatively at all since his scores on SAT and ACT were abnormally different?

Many schools don't look down on you if you send both. The nicer schools will just give you credit for your highest. Many people who do do well on the ACT don't do as hot on the SAT and vice-versa. The college admission folks understand this. Tell him/her to not worry. 35 ACT is pretty damn good lol

Wait, I thought that if you submit your ACT scores you don't have to submit SAT II scores? Has this changed?

ACT scores only substitute for SAT I.

Depends on the school. On some websites the ACT+Writing will substitute for SATI + SAT IIs (thus the beauty of taking the ACT). For other schools (some Ivys) SAT IIs are still required with the ACT.

My daughter was lopsided that way as well. For whatever reason she did much better on the ACT. Based on her acceptances, the colleges used the ACT score.

Actually, many schools will take the ACT w/writing in lieu of the SAT I and SAT IIs. Your friend should check at the schools to which he is applying.
