I got a 35 on my first ACT and a 2060 (670 in CR and M, 720 in W). I retook the SAT but it was the June 6th one so I’m just praying right now that it didn’t get screwed up! (One of the colleges I am applying to is Stanford, and you have to send all scores to them anyways, so it’s not like I can hide my June score if it’s bad.)
On the off chance that none of the sections of the June SAT improve and my top overall score is a 2060, will colleges (Stanford, UC Berkeley & Davis, SJSU) consider that a problem even though I have a high ACT score?
Your ACT score is good enough for every school. Probably not, but I think you shouldn’t have taken the SAT again(June). Anyway, you took it. If you have strong EC’s, letter of recommendation, GPA, then you won’t have a problem. Also, Stanford is so difficult to get in so a stellar ACT/SAT score won’t open the door, but it is the beginning.
@Jr12317 Is there any specific reason I shouldn’t have taken the second SAT? Most places said if you want to improve your score (which I did) to take it again, but not usually more than twice.
Your ACT score is a reason to not have taken the SAT again. As I said, 35 is good enough for every school. 35-2330.

Your ACT score is more than good and the only reason you should have taken the SAT again is if you are planning on being a NMF.
yeah, i don’t understand why you took it again if you already had a 35 on the ACT.
Ah, I see, thanks. I mostly took it again because we had already signed up for them all before I got my scores back (I did multiple points better on the ACT than I had in the practice tests). Thank you all for answering!
As OP mentioned, Stanford requires all test scores to be turned in. So it would look odd to have a 35 and 2060. If SAT was taken after ACT score was known, that would have been a mistake but having a lower SAT score would not be that great.
@texaspg I took my ACT in April and my first SAT in May but it was still before the ACT scores were out. How good of an SAT score would look at least somewhat less odd when compared to a 35?
The problem is that if you decrease or get a lower score on June SAT, that could hurt your app.
2200+ would be acceptable with a 35 since people are not expected to get exactly the same scores in both tests. There is almost a 300 point difference right now between SAT and ACT scores.
@ Jr12317 How much will it hurt my app to not improve my SAT score?
I don’t know but it is expected that on your second trial. You get a better score. SAT/ACT scores are not everything on those schools you mentioned
Yeah, I know it’s not everything, it’s just that my strengths are in academics, not volunteering/etc. I’ve had eczema for a long time, and besides being allergic to about 8 things, being outside a lot and sweating/working aggravates it, so I stay inside more often than most. Thanks for your time in answering my questions!
@MasterLillyclaw Don’t send in your SAT scores-- they’ll never know u even took it. Just send in SAT.
You’re very welcome. Also, there is a special section that you can mention some circumstances.
@bbbco1234 I’m applying to Stanford, and they require that you send in all SAT/ACT scores taken, although they will superscore me if I improve anywhere on the June SAT.
Be honest, and I think @bbbco1234 meant ACT scores. Don’t do that. If those schools find out about that, you won’t be admitted. Do what schools ask for. If they say send all your scores, then do so. I don’t know if your transcripts are printed with your SAT scores so if they see your transcripts, your admission will be denied.
@Jr12317 - yes I meant ACT… And yea, check to make sure it won’t be printed anywhere. From my school nobody sends both.
For anybody in the future who may come across this and want to know what happened because they are in a similar situation, I’m going to announce my college results as I discover. (On a side note for my original post, when I retook the SAT, it was a 2140 superscore).
