350 point sat jump!

hey guys, im a high school senior and this is what happened:
i decided to take sat last year in december and dint go through any books or anything and thought that it was bs and easy (im international btw) so i dint study AT ALL.
when i gave sat i realized how stupid id been and got a mere 1930.
math- 720
cr- 610
writing- 600

i decided to work for my next sat and get a 700+ in all 3 sections.
i gave it in june and got a 2280! waaay more than i expected but anyway.
math-770 (just 1 omit !!! i hate the curve !)
cr- 770 (does this look good coz most asians i know got like 650-680)
writing - 740

does this 350 point improvement look good or does my original score make it look bad ?

thanks in advance :)

Unless I’m mistaken, the SAT now allows you to do score reports with individual tests. So if you want, you can just send the 2280 to Princeton.

But I think even if you were to send both, they wouldn’t look down on it because 1) you still obtained a high score, and 2) your 350-point improvement is pretty impressive.

cr_freak no need to repost this in every ivy league school thread

nope. thats why i only posted it on the 4 i was applying to
i wanted to get each schools perspective on this.

Princeton loves to pick up high-scoring Asian males. You’re in luck!

^
What are you talking about!?! We are the group that gets screwed the most by Affirmative Action! They don’t “love” to pick us up, they try to limit our numbers.

cr_freak, if you can, I would retake it. Don’t get me wrong, 2,280 is a fantastic score, but like I said, we get screwed so it’s really only looked at as average. I’d try to raise it to a 2,350 or higher if you could. But if not, it’s still OK.

I’m only hazarding a guess, but I think kwu was being sarcastic…

This time, I wasn’t being sarcastic.

Princeton accepts over one-fourth of students who score in the 99th percentile on the SAT.

Observe the trend over the years:

Class of 2008: 12.7 percent Asian-American
Class of 2009: 13.3 percent Asian-American
Class of 2010: 14.4 percent Asian-American
Class of 2011: 15.0 percent Asian-American
Class of 2012: 16.7 percent Asian-American

Saugus: lol!! SAT is too painful. sitting there for 4 hours solving boring questions is too much for me to do again. so if i dont get in coz my 2280 is too low then id rather not go…

heh! I’m no an Asian American, but I’m an ethnic Chinese from a competitive Asian country (Singapore) and so maybe I got into Princeton because they liked my 2400 SAT I! Not complaining, of course.
