36 on ACT in one month?!

Hello all,

I have a question that I am hoping to get some advice on. I took the ACT in March and in April (32 and then 33). I did not study at all for the first time I took it and for the second time, I studied English for about a week and went up about 3-ish points in English (rest stayed the same).

I really want to aim for a 35 or 36 for the September test- more to just prove to myself that I CAN study and I can do better. So far, I have been really busy this summer and this research camp just ended, so I have about a month to study (test is on Sept. 10th). I got a 36 on math both times, and I just really need to improve my Reading and Science scores. So if someone can provide some advice as to how to study effectively, and which books to use, I would really really, REALLY appreciate it! Also, school starts in three days, so I won't have much time, just fyi. I just really want to know how you study, I am really bad at studying and staying focused.

Thanks again, I am really grateful for any advice!

I have a hard time staying focused on the long science and reading passages too. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.
It helped me to just do enough practices to force myself to read from front to end. It sounds silly but I either mouth out the words or make sure to understand each phrase in my head. It really saves lots of time because I can more easily remember the passage.

Find a reading strategy that works for you. For the science section, just review basic graph reading, chem, physics, and bio.

Another tip would be to ACTUALLY STUDY. a lot of people think that because the ACT is supposedly easier, that it doesn’t require much studying. … well, it takes some work to get used to the format.

I used sparknotes free online tests to study and I used ACT for dummies :

Composite : 35 reading: 35 science: 36

Thank you for your advice :)

link for the sp tests plz?
