36 on ACT

Just how difficult is it to accomplish this feat?
Previous score of 33. Should I give up or keep studying?

Also, will colleges swoon at a 36 or not so much?

thanks!

Give it up- there is no need to waste the time. Pursue other activities with more meaning.

I think it is safe to retake it

Stick with your 33. Getting a 36 is as much luck as skill. It does not swoon colleges especially if you keep taking the test to try and get it.

I was in the same position as you. I got a 34 and wanted to give it another shot for a 36. It really doesn’t make that much of a difference, but considering that you got that score it is not like you have to study for weeks for the test. Just doing a few practice tests in the week before the test date and you should be fine.

I would agree as well that it is really more about luck at that point. When I went to take it again the Reading section was significantly harder than any other Reading section I had seen before, and I tutored other kids for the ACT.

So it’s worth a shot…go for it

I wouldn’t. IMO it’s too hard to bring your A game for every section all on one day. If you get, let’s say, a 32 on the next one you’ll probably regret it. 33 is good enough.

It’s pretty hard to do if your getting in the 33 level. If you got a 35 then it would be another thing.

If the 33 was from the first time you took the test, there’s no harm in trying it again

The harm is a lower score. Not all schools will only look at the superscore. Other’s consider it but make no guarantee. My opinion is that it’s a lot of risk for very little gain. A bad bet, in my opinion. A 33 is a great score. GL
