Hi, I'm looking to get a 36 on this upcoming ACT or on one next year.

I have taken it three times. Do you think this is possible?

1st time 2008: Cum:28
English: 24
Mathematics: 31
Reading: 30
Science: 26

2nd time 2009: Cum:32
English: 29
Mathematics: 35
Reading: 33
Science: 30

3rd time 2010: Cum 33
English: 35
Mathematics: 35
Reading: 35
Science: 28 :/

The science is really pulling me down. Do any of you have any tips for this section. I admit, I neglected science when I was studying so I will go through this section thoroughly this time.

Thanks!

I find science to be luck more than anything. I got a 36 on science my first test, and a 28 on the next. I obviously know what to do, but each test has its share of trickery.

Did you read the passages or just skip to the questions?

I went straight to the questions.

I just did a practice science section and I think the best way to do it is just read the questions, the experiments and stuff have a lot of useless information that will just take too long too read, I finished the section with 6 minutes to spare and missed 3, all because I simply misread part of a graph, I should probably slow down.

What test did you take The wikiman?

I know that not reading the passages will help with the time to get a better score. But since I am aiming for a perfect, I am thinking that the one answer I need will be in the paragraph somewhere.

I read the passages, finished literally 2 or 3 seconds before the section ended, and got a 35. I’d suggest that you read the passages, it helped me.

The Science section is all about the timing. Just keep practicing and you’ll get it down. It took me a long time before I felt comfortable with it, but after a lot of practice I was able to at least minimize the damage that this section did to my composite score.

The science is the hardest section for me too. I just read the ways people say to approach it and do practice tests to see which one works for me.

…how did you improve your score so much? I have about the same score as you do for your first test. Im about to take it a second time. If you would like to give me some pointers my email is teganleannekline@yahoo.com

I would really appreciate the help.

Basically just memorize your grammer rules for english.
For math I was in the highest math all the time in school so I didn’t really need any review.
For reading I was just good but what helped was indexing the paragraphs. That means just write a 2-3 word summary about each paragraph. It helps you remember where the answers to the questions are when you go back.
