3rd Nomination... commom?

Son got 3 nominations to USNA. His first choice was USAFA in the beginning of process and was swayed by his assigned ALO. She was stationed over seas and would not reply to over 10 emails and unable to contact her by phone. We complained and they (current ALO) kept telling us she'd be back next month and it never happened. My son decided to change his first choice to USNA on nomination sources. Son finally got an interview from his new ALO (seemed more like a hassle) on the other side of the state (after first board met, 3 months late..was qualified for first board review). They wanted to do a phone interview with him but son didn't think he'd do as well by phone. Congressmen from state only gives your first choice depending on Academys ranking provided to them and therfore he will not receive a USAFA nomination even though he is fully qualified and is a candidate. Doe this mean his chances are zero for an appointment to USAFA? He would love a chance....any chance. I'm sure this whole ordeal was isolated and doesn't reflect the USAFA.

You can only attend USAFA if you receive a nomination, so if he doesn't have one then he can't be appointed. That sounds like a very sticky situation, and I'm sorry to hear that happened to you guys.

Touch bases with the MOC's (House & Senate) explain the situation. Then contact the ALO & USAFA Counselor. It is not uncommon to have nominations to multiple academies. our daughter had nominations to USMA, USAFA, and USNA. Got appointments to USMA, and USAFA withdrew from USNA. Communicate with your MOC's, ALO, and Counselors. They will help.

My ALO was the same way, got the interview, but never could get him to respond again. It's sounds like out of anger and frustration you changed to USNA, sorry to hear that. Good luck in trying to get a nomination.
