I'm at a predicament for my senior schedule at my school. As unfortunate events come along, the school schedules the same class period for AP Calculus and French 4. There is a statistics class available which I can take, but it might look good to have AP Calculus on my senior schedule to improve the visible rigor of my schedule. I'm also going for an English major, so math might not have an incredibly large impact upon me. I'm just thinking that it might not be a bad addition when I apply for colleges.

Any ideas?

Oh, and btw, my college of choice is UC Berkeley, if that was needed.

If you are thinking of graduate work in English someday, you’ll need proficiency in one or two languages.

It is harder to take a language if you have a gap.

Three years of a foreign language are recommended for UCs http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/subject_reqs.html

I’d favor the French class with AP Stats for an English major.

Ah, the only problem with that is the Statistics class at my high school isn’t AP Statistics =/. I also heard that Berkeley looks largely into science, and by taking in AP Calculus, I would open up a spot for a science class.

Any suggestions?

How many years of science do you have already?

I have 3 years so far, if I have another next year I’ll have 4.

Ap calc in my opinion.

How much will not taking a 3rd year of foreign language impact my chance of getting into UC Berkeley?

not taking a 3rd year? I thought it was not taking a 4th year?

Ap caluclus or spanish year 3?

Ap caluclus

Im confused…it says AP calc or 3rd year of foreign language?

But in your explanation why does it say French 4 or AP calc?

If its 4th year, take math, but if its only 3rd year, some colleges might require 3 years.
