3's on AP exams

in the AP score section i reported my scores.. and they were basically a straight line of 3's.. now im starting to regret my decision of doing that :-( Am i basically going to get rejected despite all my other good qualifications?

I don't think you will get rejected because of that....I chose not to report mine...but I wouldn't sweat it. I would hope that they look past that because it is not a good judgement of academic excellence. I guess it all depends on the school.. Also think if you didn't report them like me...they can only suspect the worst!! So one way or another there is not much that you can do...

haha I hope not.
I didn't report mine either, but they show up on the back of my transcript, if you look carefully.

stop posting the same (useless) question in 10 forums. once again, what's done is done. all you can do now is keep up with the midterm grades, not asking for reassurances from CCers

Depends on where you apply...lots of kids don't even have APs

Yeah, my school doesn't offer them.

I did a self study. Got a 3, not bad...

3s or neutral, I would say. I have two threes. :( And only 3s.

AP examination scores IMO are the validation of the grades a student got in their AP classes...

So if a student got A in his or her AP class(es) but got a dismal 1 or 2 on the exam, what would you think "rigor" of the AP class(es) and the student was/were? ;)

How 'bout a 3, that is the question!

Here, 3 is considered a good score in a optimistic sense or neutral in a cynical sense...; absolutely not a bad score .

will it hurt at top schools like ivies?

I took only one semester of APUSH and English language, and got 3s. :(

i thought that ap scores don't matter in the admissions process.. aren't they mostly for class placement when you actually get into that college??

Wait, so do we ave to SUBMIT our AP Scores????

It also depends on what courses you take. I once heard that at the math-sciency type schools like MIT and Caltech a 5 in a science course is considered good, a 4 is neutral, and a 3 is a black mark, but in a humanities course 4 is good and a 3 is neutral.

3's mean you are average and nothing more than that. you should not even be applying to top schools.

yea i have the same question. Do we HAVE to submit the scores through collegeboard? did all of you do that? I mean i self reported my scores on the apps, but i don't think theres any point paying to send the scores when they don't even count for admissions.

What colleges are you applying to?

a lot of ivies.. and some top 20 schools
