4.0 GPA but 2 W's. I want to transfer to USC from SMC?

Hello. I'm currently attending Santa Monica College and I want to transfer to USC.
However, I have 4.0 GPA but I do have 2 W's which may hurt my admission to USC.
Unlike UCs, USC doesn't like even one W's and I have two ):
I'll be completing 45 units by this spring. I'm worried, because of those 2 W's that I have.
I'm like really depressed ): I got those 2 W's in my first summer session and the following fall semester.
My major is Linguistics. Please let me know if I still have a chance for USC trasnfer.
Thank you for reading!

Yes, of course you have a chance! Don’t get too discouraged, do your best on the application with the essay and short answer prompts. From what I understand, USC takes a holistic approach when looking at applications and so two W’s alone should not be a deal breaker.

What does the “W” means?

Withdraw. You get it if you leave the class after the first two (or three, depends on the school) weeks of the semester, and before the last two (or three) weeks.

would 4 W’s with 3.7 hurt?

^^^I believe any amount of Ws hurt your chances since there will always be applicants with comparable stats who do not have any Ws. However, top-tier colleges take a much more holistic approach in their admissions process and the detrimental effect of these Ws may be mitigated if you seem to be a stellar applicant in terms of work experience and ECs. Also, a justifiable reason for these Ws may help your chances.
