My reach schools (Stanford, Georgetown, UCLA, USC)
My reasonable schools (UCD, UCSB, UC at Boulder, Virginia)
Fall backs (Cal Poly, San Diego St.) I live in San Luis Obispo.

Are these reasonable choices? Is this a good major choice?
I've heard Poli Sci has a bad outlook unless you go to grad school.

I am interested in Politics and Law School. Considering International Relations or Business also.

Do my extracurricularsulurs make me more likely to get into a private then UC or state?

Do I realistically have any chance for Stanford or Georgetown? They're dream colleges for me.

What schools would give me the best internships and job oppurtunities for my GPA?
Considered Army, Air force and Navy. Don't think I could be physically strong enough.

honestly, standford and georgetown will be high reaches with your test scores and class rank. doesn’t mean they’re not worth applying to though! you seem like a very good student; unfortunately i’m not too familiar with the UC system so i can’t give much feedback on whether these schools are reaches, matches, safeties, etc. but i think you have a good range of selectivity in the schools you’re looking at. a few suggestions: if you’re into georgetown but it’s a reach, think about other dc schools like gwu or american- they’re a little more possible to get into and have great program with an even better location. try looking around this forum for lists of schools with good poli sci programs, then look through the schools on those lists to see if there are more than appeal to you where you think you’d have a great chance. good luck!! :)

chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1111090-chances-swarthmore-pomona-cmc-oberlin.html

Yeah those are definite reaches. Don’t rule out the military ones though just because you don’t think you can handle it… You’d be surprise what you can do once pushed. But i would say DEFINITELY apply to state schools for back up (OU, UMN, UF…etc.) Private is way too of a stretch for ya.

Thanks for the update, I kinda thought I didn’t have a chance at those schools.
I put a lot of work in. But I guess we just weren’t all meant to be top school criteria.

Thanks for the ideas about gwu and American. I am starting to lean towards that direction.

Thanks for thinking I can make it through the military. I’m pretty weak though.
I don’t think I could compete as far as like lifting pushups etc.

I would check into Syracuse also. UVA is very tough on out of state applicants so that one will be more difficult also. Take the SAT again if possible. If you can get what you got on the plan, I would think you would be in very good shape for Syracuse. Best of luck!

Since I began asking around your the second person to tell me how hard UVa is on out of state. Thanks a lot for the update I had no idea.

I think I will be about a 29 on the ACT. cause I took the PSAT (pre-sat) and got a 1700.
and then when I took the SAT I got the same thing.

However that was without any studying. I’ve been told studying for the SAT only raises your grade about 200 points. (1900 is alright but nothing special?) and I have like two or three months to try and study.
