4.0 Students...how'd you do it!

I was wondering how you guys did it! :) & congrads on ur hard work too!

They got all A’s in every class they had.

^ win+++++++

You’re so funny.

i think a 4.0 unweighted comes from 4 situations (and could be a combination of all/any of these):
-the school isn’t challenging so the student just tends to get As for being smart
-the classes are easy, maybe not honors level
-the student is naturally brilliant
-the student works really hard
i think in a challenging school only the brilliant hard-workers would get 4.0s, but most high schools aren’t that challenging so i think at a lot of places it’s completely doable if you’re smart and put a little work in. but it’s really hard to judge gpas since every school is completely different.

My school grades on a 6.0 scale.

4.0 students work hard… they care about school and make it a priority. This is kind of a peculiar thread. I mean, it’s not like we drink from the secret fountain of intelligence and recite incantations before tests.

Just make sure you do your every homework most nights. Don’t procrastinate too much, and you should get near a 4.0.

You have to learn to cater to each teacher’s expectations, and easily adapt to the style of test/quiz/assessment. Once you know this and put in hard work at first, you’ll even be able to slack off from time to time in some of your classes. I have 4.0 unweighted and I’m the biggest procrastinator on earth.

Quoted for truth.

^ Agreed 10char.

three of four of those apply to me… except all of my classes have been honors, AP, dual enrollment, or advanced since elementary school…

i’m also like interficio. i have a 4.05UW. i do procrastinate a lot (doing it now) but that doesn’t mean that we don’t work hard.

Well, fortunately we give 4.0s to all A’s (a 93 is the same as a 100 somehow). I don’t study that much and I am not innately brilliant or anything. My school is kinda easy, we send a few kids to Duke and other top tiers each year though.

i know some school that do that^^^ no + or -

i dont know how schools operate on a 7 point scale instead of 10 (ie A= 93-100, etc)

one “friend” said since nobody from our school ever got accepted to yale (which is false, but the guy is a basketball prodigy… and im sure it happened in the past) i wouldn’t. how rude.

Trust me, it blows. It’s the main reason why my GPA is so low.
:p

There’s this thing called sleeping…I’ve figured out that you don’t really need to do that.

ditto 10 char^^^

I go to a challenging school and have an UW 4.0… I achieved this through LOTS AND LOTS of studying, preparation, flashcards, and paying attention in class.

Pay attention in class, complete ALL of the work, do not compete with others… compete with yourself. I know that everytime I recieved a low grade, I would try to recieve a better grade on the next assignment. Attend tutoring if needed, don’t think you are too “smart” for tutoring. Also, just don’t always focus on work. Find time to relax and chill, you don’t want to “overstudy” or over stress yourself out. Flashcards are the equivalent of God at times, lol.

If you understand the material and turn in your homework, there is no reason to not have a 4.0 .

100-ish’s on homework assignments weight your grades enough to only require upper 80’s on quizzes and tests. If you pay attention and know what the teacher expects you to know, that’s very easily attainable (except maybe in calculus, lol). If you don’t, go to tutorials, go to friends, go to your textbook, go to khan academy. It really doesn’t take hard work, just diligence, and commitment. Being gifted makes the comprehension a easier and quicker though.

Often, the key is studying to excel in the CLASS- do not study to excel in the subject or on the exam. That will come naturally (if you have a good teacher anyway). If you can do exactly what your teacher expects you to do, you’re going to get an A.

I can tell you that a big difference between myself and my peers is that when they realize at 11:30PM that they have a text over an entire book the next day that they haven’t even started, they throw in the towel. I don’t, though I do use bookrags, haha. I don’t work nearly as hard as anyone ranked around me, but I work diligently (at 2AM no less), and am on the same wavelength as the teachers. I know what to know, and know what doesn’t matter.

**Most importantly, I know what I know, and I know what I don’t know. **These two things together are absurdly important.
