<p>OK, I really, REALLY hate the 4.0 vs 100 conversion. I have no idea how to convert, and I've seen anything from 3.7 to 4.0 depending on the conversion chart. My school puts out a rough conversion chart that puts me at 4.0, but I have seen other charts that put me at 3.7, and one person I asked told me 3.8. I have no idea how to convert between the two, and it prevents me from comparing myself to anyone else anywhere, since the majority of schools use a 4.0 scale. Does anyone have any idea how to get more specific than that?
BTW unweighted will be 94.3 and weighted will be 100.0 at the end of junior year if I don't tank 4th quarter.</p>
<p>Do it this way:</p>
<p>Each class, take the grade and convert it to the 4.0 scale. 90-100=4.0, 80-89=3.0, 70-79=2.0, 60-69=1.0, 0-59=0. Then, average them all. If you have credits and half credits, account for that. For example, the average of a half credit 3.0 and a whole credit 4.0 would be 3.67, as (3+4+4)/11=3.6666666666667 or so*.</p>
<p>There isn’t a <strong>% = _.</strong> chart because one could have all low to mid level 90ish grades and have a similar % GPA as someone with a bunch of high 80ish grades and high 90ish grades, but their 4.0 scale GPAs would differ.</p>

<p>Done that way I should have about 3.85 (or round to 3.9) unweighted, but how do I account for the weighted grades? Is 100-110 considered 5, and 110-120 6? (honors are weighted as +10%, and APs as +15%) Or should I just apply the weighting to the already converted numbers?</p>
<p>Also, the string of 6’s is totally unnecessary. 3.6666…, 3 2/3 and 11/3 all mean the same thing, and no number of sixes could possibly be as exact.</p>

Usually you keep it at the hundredth if there’s a non-0 number there, so say 3.85 UW.</p>

Weight is meaningless outside of your school, as nearly every school has a different system. What matters is individual grades, UW GPA, and rank.</p>

No. While some schools don’t call 90-100 a 4.0, the vast majority do, and it is the standard benchmark. Many colleges reevaluate different systems on the 90-100 4.0 system to put them in a more familiar light.</p>
