Just out of curiosity, how many of you (transfer students only) have a 4.0? I want to know if it is as common as everyone makes it seem.

I have a 4.0...wow that makes me sound like I'm bragging lol

It's definitely common in this forum.

Maybe so..let's see how many people post.

I have a 3.51, but if you round it.... it could be a 4.0 :D

I have a 4.0, but my school does not do plus/minus grading, so my 4.0 doesn't mean jack.

With plus/minus grading, I think I would be around a 3.8/3.9.

You will find an excess of 4.0s from CCs, and concomitant students thinking it actually compares to the 4.0s at top schools.

Edit: And not to deprecate Matt's accomplishment (though he is not at a CC), I personally know him to be a very intelligent person, so his attitude (if he has one) is justified.

So how many 3.5ish cc students end up getting a 4.0 after transferring?

nspeds...you have no proof whatsoever that there is an excess of 4.0 CCC students, especially those who believe it's up to par with 4.0s from top notch schools.

btw..this forum is for transfer students, not Georgetown jerks.

although i really hate the way that nspeds puts it because i'm sure the majority of students who have the 4.0 under a plus/minus system even then realize the difficulty, it's true.

many of them may not post in this forum, but there are a plethora that do have them. although, in reality, what does that magical '4.0' mean, compared to a 3.95, or a 3.96? shrugs.

anyway, even though i dont appreciate the elitist attitude, he has a point.

For those of you who believe there is a "plethora" of 4.0 CCC students, give me proof. I do not believe you.

i have a 4.0...i don't think it'll really help my app if im competing with someone who has a 3.8 or anything though.

I think that 4.0 at four year institutions are much more relevant here, since I've seen enough CC 4.0 get rejected from every school they applied to.

I am also very curious how many people will be still have a 4.00 after this semester and all the transfer hassle.

i have a 3.5 but i will go down to a 3.33 after this semester because i have a B in Calculus and I will have a C in Physics because of the stupid teacher that has lived in the states for 20 years and still cannot speak english.

I feel your pain :(.

a 4.0 at CC may not be as good as a 4.0 at top notch school like gtown, because at CC, a student is comparing against students of much lower caliber than top notch students from top schools.

Nspeds is one of the best contributors we have here.

"I am also very curious how many people will be still have a 4.00 after this semester and all the transfer hassle."

I certainly won't....lets just say that philosophy is the worst subject in the world. I can't sit through one class without screaming inside my head..."I DON'T CARE! I COULDN'T GIVE A BIGGER ****!!! I. DO. NOT. CARE."

Um...he does to Georgetown..how exactly does that contribute to people transferring to the UCs? I think his opinion is worthless...not to mention, Georgetown must be pretty lame for him to feel the need to demean the community college student transfers.

Beechbum, so perhaps you care more about things like clothes and makeup and nice cars? Well for everyone who cares about philosophy we must scream throughout our lives as we encounter such meaningless crap just as you scream in that single class.

I thought the fiasco generated in another thread demonstrated the applicability of this forum to me.
