Also, burden of proof does not lie on the person whom is attacked.

But I thought that when people used the word thesaurus, you were justified in reacting harshly because others usually use it in tandem with an insult? Can we not also use induction to think that most people that use large words for no reason are full of "it?"

talkell, stop wasting your time with him.

janel89..yeah, I suppose you are right. It's just fun messing with him.

Umm ok..so when I get into Berkeley..ranked higher than your school..will that prove my idiocy?
Ohhh... so now you are assuming you will get accepted.

Hahaha.

1) Try getting accepted to a non-UC top 25 institution.
2) Once accepted into UCB, come back after a year and tell me your GPA.

FYI..if I wanted to use big words, I would. I do know how to read.
The capability of reading does not indicate that one knows 'big words.' The fact that you even refer to them as 'big words' attests to it. Words like 'gamine,' 'pithy,' 'gambol,' and such are not 'bigger than' words like 'congratulations' and 'sympathy,' but odds are you still do not know them.

Instead of deriding those who know more than you, why not just admit that they do and go learn something? Perhaps then you can return with your newfound knowledge and claim intellectual (or epistemological?) superiority. Until then, you are just whining. You can argue that I am 'pretentious' or whatever, but the fact us that you do not know enough of me to say that, and my experiences contradict it as well.

As feather boys like you humor me?

I do not know. What is a 'feather boy," some phrase you concocted? Why did you post it as a question? Are you unsure?

...you are far from doing that, believe me.

Oh... yeah...

...communications is not the most respectable major out there... it is probably not respected at all.

You are taking time out of your 10 hour-a-day studytime to post on here to prove you are my intellectual superior? Yeah..

"...communications is not the most respectable major out there... it is probably not respected at all."

According to you..surprising you think my major isn't respectable. I never saw that coming. And for the record, Berkeley, UCLA, and the rest of the UCs offer it so obviously it is respectable. In fact, at ucla it is the hardest major to get accepted into. :)

That they offer it does not mean they are more respected than other majors at the UCs.

That does not necessarily mean what you think it does. Under one interpretation, it could mean that tons of people are applying for that major because it is so easy such that they can earn a higher GPA, thus making the applicant pool more competitive.

Also, with all due respect, you are of minority decent. I think that counts for quite a lot on the point scale, huh?

"That they offer it does not mean they are more respected than other majors at the UCs."

I never said it was more respected than the other majors..I was simply responding to your, "...communications is not the most respectable major out there... it is probably not respected at all."

It might not be respectable in your eyes, but who cares? You won't be the one hiring me.

Although I feuded with nspeds recently. I feel compelled to admit that TallKell's posts have been quite infantile. While nsped's posts have been logical and cogent, TallKell's logorrhea is painful to read, and his idiolect reminds me of a pre-teen.

I am Indian. If anything, that is worse than being caucasian in affirmative action.

"...communications is not the most respectable major out there... it is probably not respected at all."

Yes, I agree his posts are logical and cogent. I believe the above post proves that.

nspeds, you are my fellow countryman. where in india is your family from?

Communications is roughly as rigorous as pre-algebra.

"And for the record, Berkeley, UCLA, and the rest of the UCs offer it so obviously it is respectable."

Berkeley offers Mass Communications; I think that's a bit different. Then they also offer rhetoric.

what exactly does being a communications major entail? what classes do you take? how is it different than journalism or advertising?

I have followed these boards for years. These boards represent a social phenomena that I have studied at length. Personal attacks by anonymous contributors feeds on various psychological disorders. Communications is an excellent major given that the amount of communication doubles every 1.8 years. And yes, what do you think we are all doing here? Could it be that we are communicating?

Here is a question for you? Who is more likely to run an engineering company?

a) an engineer

b) a communicaiton major

If you think the engineer, you are completely clueless.

still doesn't answer my question....
is communications like PR then? and just because a major doubles in concentration doesn't mean it's good. i'm not saying it's an easy/disreputable major because i honestly don't know what it entails, but saying it is excellent because there are many students who chose to major in it offers absolutely no evidence that it is in fact an "excellent" major.
