4+1 programs

I was just wondering what people on here thought about 4+1 programs for the MPH. (I really dont really know anything about 4+1 or master programs in general, so Im sorry if this question sounds too broad.) I will be a junior (academically) next semester at Tulane so that's when I would start taking grad level classes towards the MPH. I know I want to pursue public health in graduate school, but the only reason I was planning on the 4+1 was to save money. I guess my question is, what do you think about 4+1 programs? Are they worth it to save a year's worth of tuition?

Hi mcel, hope you are having a good summer.

It seems to me that if after a year in the School of PH you are still convinced that is the career path for you, then by all means go for the 4+1. The only 2 reasons I can think of that a person wouldn’t is if they were not sure yet, or they just like taking classes in other areas so much that they don’t want to skip that part (which also assumes that saving the money is not so much of an issue). I mean in general I say don’t rush things, college goes by too fast as it is, but you have to balance that with your own situation regarding finances, interest in other things, etc.
