4.33(W) GPA looking for a UC

Well I’m a new member and after reading a few threads I thought it would be helpful to get some suggestions from readers. =)

I’m a resident of California and just like most Californians I want to attend one of the top UCs. I want to see if I stand a chance at all at UCSD, UCLA, or UCI.

GPA: 4.33 (W) 3.9 (UW)

SAT I Score: 1710 ( =[ I really dont know what happened… it ended up even lower than my PSAT score… I was pretty sick while taking it that day though and didnt’ finish the reading and writing sections. I think I can get around 1900+ on the second try)

SAT II Scores: Math - 720 US - 710 Chinese - 800 (They arent that great compare to some of the readers out here =[ )

Total 8 AP classes taken (4 this year, 4 next year, still waiting for my scores from this year)

Come from a low-income family and first generation in college

EXC at school:

Do you think I stand a chance for getting into UCSD or UCLA?

What is your UC GPA? What major are you applying for? Your SAT scores are very low for UCLA and UCSD.

If your UC GPA is above 4.0, you should have a shot at the mid range UCs with current SATs.

My UC GPA with only 8 semesters of weighted courses is 4.2

I"m looking into Computer Science, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering.

You're looking at the most difficult majors. Hopefully your math SAT score is fairly strong, but the SAT core in general will be a problem.

Is the SATII math IC or IIC? Are you Chinese or is the SATII a second language?

Engineering at a UC will be tough with a 1700s SAT, UCSC is probably your best chance.

UCLA: Reach (Engineering)
UCSD: Slight Reach (Engineering)
UCI: Match (Engineering)
