4.5 quarter units = how many class hours?

I’m a little confused on this whole deal… I have been out of school for a few years on medical leave and am planning to go back soon. In order to reinstate to my university, I have to take at least two courses at another college first to prove I am ready. The school website reads thusly:

“In order for credit to be given for a course completed at another college or university, the course must carry a value of at least three semester credit hours; if the course is taken at an institution on the quarter system, it must carry a value of at least four-and-one-half quarter units.”

The classes I am proposing to take are on the quarter system for this summer, so I will need 4.5 quarter units. How many hours does this equal to? I tried calculating it and was getting 67.5. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance

4.5 college credit hours equals about 3 semester hours.

Also, I think each class individually needs to be 4.5 credits.

Right, that makes sense. I’m just wondering how many hours the class needs to meet over the course of the quarter for it to qualify. For example, there is a course that meets for 2.5 hours 22 times in the quarter, which is 55 hours. I am wondering if that is more or less than “4.5 quarter credit units.”

Idk, my college assigns each class a certain 1-5 or so number of credit hours. Sorry.

1 quarter credit hour = 2/3 semester credit hour
1 semester credit hour = 1.5 quarter credit hour

Since a quarter is typically 10 weeks and a semester is typically 15 weeks, a 3 semester credit course could theoretically cover the same material as a 4.5 quarter credit course moving at 1.5 times the speed (with 1.5 times the number of class hours and expected out-of-class time spent per week).
