4-6 weeks to send GRE scores?!

I am retaking the GRE on November 16th. Since it takes so long for schools to receive the official scores am I screwed for all the schools who have December deadlines?

Has anyone had success telling the school that the scores will be late and letting them look at your GRE account or something? I feel like a lot of people retake the GRE late and there is a lot of early December deadlines so this has to be a somewhat common issue.

My day will be ruined if I realize that I wasted $160 and countless hours studying for nothing...

Are you taking the paper-based test? If it’s computer based it only takes them ~15 days to send scores, I believe.

Right, but if I remember correctly, you are only allowed to send it to 4 recipients on the test date. So, the 4 will get it within 2 weeks but you will have to wait until the scores are reported to send it to remaining schools.

You will probably miss the deadline, but usually that isn’t a huge problem because it takes a week or two to gather all the materials and have it ready for the committee. Some schools do it as a continual process though so you might very well be late for certain schools. For example, I got my first interview a week and a half after the deadline, so clearly they gathered everything quickly.

I’m taking the computer based test. And i thought it was only 15 days but I keep seeing conflicting information.

I have 2 deadlines on December 1st and one December 5th that I’m worried about.

But if I put those 3 schools down after I take my test will it be a maximum of 15 days?

Both the December 1st schools said it’d be okay if the scores are a couple days late.

I took the test earlier this month, and ETS shows that my scores were reported eight days later (six business days).
