I was helping out with the Decision Day today, specifically with the World Scholars breakfast as well as the Study Abroad table. I just wanted to know what everyone thought of the Decision Day. Feedback from anyone who went to the World Scholars breakfast would be awesome too!
D and her Dad will be attending on the 16th. Looks like great weather is in store!
We attended on 4/9 and D made her final decision to commit that day. We were not at the World Scholars program, so can’t tell you much about that. The only part of the day that felt rushed and a little disorganized was the dorm/residence life tour. The dorms at Delaware compared to a lot of other schools really are not a positive to begin with, especially with all of the triples, so the people giving the dorm tours really should have shown us the lounges/study areas and other facilities in the dorms to try to take the edge off of the cramped looking rooms and minimal storage space. Concentrating on the rooms themselves is not really a plus, they should have shown off the entire building (Redding).
I liked all the freebies
We are going to UD this weekend for the decision day. Hoping we will get some good information about the nursing program. We were initially going to attend last weekend, but couldn’t, now I see the weather will be much better so I’m pleased we changed our weekend plans!
netter11:
I see from the Nursing Board that your D is also highly interested in the Nursing Program at the Univ. of Miami. Our D graduated from UD in 2010 with her BSN and obtained her MSN as a FNP at UMiami in 2014 and is now on the Nursing Faculty at UMiami teaching BSN students. Her perspective is that the academic caliber of students and rigor of Program is not significantly different between the two Programs. Both are excellent Nursing Programs and are very rigorous in student expectations. UMiami has great weather year round, South Beach is about 20-30 minutes away (depending on traffic-which can be a nightmare around Miami at times on RT.1 and Rt. 95), but costs about 15-20K yearly more than UD. Being able to speak Spanish would be a plus in attending UMiami (as many patients you would see in clinical settings have varying degrees of command of the English language, some not at all). Just thought I would share this info with you. Good luck in making your decision. You can’t go wrong at either school.
