4 AP Classes for a Sophomore?

We're registering for next year's classes (10th grade) and I need some advice if this workload would be too much. I currently make straight A's and am in all GT (gifted and talented, above honors but below AP) classes. This is what I'm thinking for next year:

AP Calculus AB
AP Psychology
AP World History
AP Chemistry
GT English 10
Spanish 3 Honors

How hard are these AP classes? I'm only concerned because I haven't taken an AP class before but my teachers have recommended me and think I'll do well. Feedback?

Also, will I be able to keep my 4.0 while taking these classes or will it hurt my GPA? How hard is it to get a 5 on the AP exams? Does anyone know about how much homework there will be a night? Thanks

Lol no stop

Drop AT LEAST ap chem (go into regular or honors) or ap calc

I’d say drop AP Chem. Chemistry is extremely difficult and you should definitely take an honors level or GT level class first. Then, if you like it, you can take AP Chem another year.

Btw, my school doesn’t even allow sophomores to take AP classes.

Have you taken a Chemistry class before? If not, drop AP Chem. But if you’re a great studier then go for it! My sophomore schedule is near the same as yours but instead of AP Psych I got AP Music Theory.

don’t do chem, everything else is fine, they r all easy APs.

Go for the challenge if you feel confident. I took 4 APs sophomore year and it was definitely manageable. Ask some kids at your school about class workloads/ difficulty.

Sent from my Infected Rezound using CC

Find out what scores the kids have received on the AP tests from your school over the last couple years for each class you are planning to take. That will give you a good indication of how hard the classes will be and whether they are actually teaching everything they should. In my DS’s school kids rarely get a 3. Most of them get 4’s and 5’s. AP classes are different at each high school. If the kids are getting 4’s and 5’s in the AP classes you are planning on taking then I would suggest to wait and take AP Chem. as a Junior. However if they are mostly scoring 3’s then I would go ahead take all of them because IMO they really aren’t true college level AP classes and won’t be that difficult.

don’t drop AP chem. at least 9 people in my grade(sophomores) are taking chem and doing fine(well granted my school is insanely try hard). and don’t worry, AP calc and psych are jokes. world i’m not sure about(but be careful; from my experiences AP US is TERRIBLE, world might be siimilar).

Add AP Biology and replace AP Calculus with AP Statistics and that is the schedule of a current sophomore at my school. It is definitely manageable, but it is a lot of work.

It depends heavily on the school. In my school, I’d say AP World is a real pain, while others are saying it’s an “easy” AP.
Personally, I’d say don’t bother with the really difficult ones, and stick with the easier ones. If it were me, I’d be taking AP Calculus AB, AP Psych, Honors Chem, and some other fourth class instead of AP World.

Don’t take AP Chem. Unless you have a strong background in chem already, it’ll be easier to take it in your junior year. You’ll get better grades then.

why?///////////////////////////////

I basically had your schedule as a sophomore except I took AP Bio instead of AP Psych. Definitely doable, but it will kick your ass. Don’t do it unless you’re willing to put in the time and effort. A LOT OF TIME AND A LOT OF EFFORT. I wouldn’t have changed a thing though, but I suppose I’m masochistic like that
