4 APs, or 3 APs + Physics??

I have a scheduling dilemma. I am currently signed up for AP Government, AP English Lit, AP Calc AB, and AP Spanish Language next year, my senior year. However, this leaves me no room for physics because of my school's scheduling system.

My goal schools are UC Davis, UCSD, UCLA, and Berkeley.

I was thinking of dropping AP Spanish or AP Gov to take physics normal, but my counselor recommended against it, stating that having more APs is better than taking a physics normal class. However, I intend to be a science major (possibly bioengineering), so without physics, I would only be taking 3 years of science during my high school career, which would undoubtedly look a bit bad on my resume to the UCs.

Any thoughts? I have until Monday to decide...I'm currently split between taking all 4 APs, or dropping AP Spanish Lit (not that useful in terms of college credit anyways) and taking physics normal in place of that.

What grade are you going to be in?
And have you taken AP Biology and AP Chemistry yet?

Is it AP Physics B or C?

I would recommend dropping AP Spanish and taking normal physics.

It would be good to have a year of physics on your transcript. Your counselor is right that more AP’s look good, but on the other hand, not having any physics at all isn’t a good thing either. In my opinion.

To TRUFFLIEPUFF: the OP is going to be a senior.

To the OP: Since you want to be a science major, you should take the physics class and drop either AP Government or AP Spanish.

Take AP physics if you can (perhaps distance learning or something). You only have four classes, so you could add this on. Also, if you can, get into AP calc BC (who knows, it might free up your schedule).
