4 Classes good for fall quarter? Need help with classes!!!

I'm currently a bio major so I enrolled in Bio 2A Seminar, Bio 93, Chem 1P, and Intro to Philosophy. I want to drop my BIO 2A seminar so my questions are:

Would it be too much to have 4 classes your first quarter of college?

I want to change to a physics major, what should my 4th class be if I take one? (I think Physics 7 is full)

Without the Bio 2A seminar, I currently will only have 12 units.

Umm, I wouldn’t call the BIO 2A seminar a class, Why? Bc you meet once a week and you only listen to a person discuss research opportunities, and more about biology. There are no tests, I think.

No math or writing classes?
And are you sure about CHem 1P instead of Chem 1A? And it will NOT be too much to take 4 classes first quarter, it is actually typical.

14-16 units is typical for incoming freshman.

12 units is the minimum for a full-time student ftr.

sorry to clarify, i meant i wanted to drop BIO 2A and take an actual class (giving me 4 classes)

i wanted to enroll in writing 39b but it was full and i’m not sure what math i should be taking… i passed the CALC AB ap exam with a 4 and BC with a 5

also when they passed out the mock test thing for chemistry they said if you didn’t understand the problems you should take 1P and since i haven’t taken chem since sophomore year i think 1P will be better for me ha

but anyone know what math i should be in?

Hmm, I think that means you can enroll in math 2D, not too sure though. Going to need another opinion.

Many students have not taken any chem since soph year, and even many upperclassmen heavily suggest to start off with chem 1a. I would register for chem 1a, and if its too hard, drop it and take chem 1p. Choice is yours though, :]

yeah i think i actually wanna take 1a then but it is full, do i have to just stay in 1p now? or will more spaces open up later on?

I dont really know too much about this, but if there is a reasonable amount of spaces left in chem 1p, I would try to get waitlisted in the chem 1a classes, and if it doesnt work out, then enroll in chem 1p.

You can enroll in either Math2D or Math 2J, and you’ll be done with math for your B.A. (unless you want to take more for med school requirements).

Stay enrolled in 1P for now, and when spaces open up for 1A, go in there. There will be spots that open later on in 1A. You can attend both lectures and you’ll notice 1A isn’t that hard (but if you think it is, you can stay in 1P). I’m not sure if they changed the time you drop classes without a W (Withdraw) on your record, I think it’s 5 or 6 Weeks into the quarter.

I believe if you stay in 1A and still attend, and if you aren’t added by the time first midterms come, you can go up to the Professor and he’ll probably add you in via an Add card. If you are serious about enrolling in 1A though, talk to the professor that you are attending and talk to him about it first, saying would it be okay if you attended lecture and waited for spots to fill. A lot of students stop showing after first week of lectures so there will be lecture seats open regardless that the class is ‘Full’.

You should take Statistics over Math just because it’ll be more helpful for you. Math 2D and 2J is generally geared toward physical science and engineer majors.
