4 Hour Labs...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around HOW I'm going to manage a 4 hour Chemistry lab….after a 1 hour chemistry lecture…

Are 4 hour labs normal for freshmen? How will I survive? lol

4 hour labs are typical. It’s really not that bad. Many labs will take the full time, but sometimes you’ll have labs that don’t.

yeah, typical. past high school, the real biochemistry/chemistry experiments can take way more than 4 hours, so that’s actually pretty short. Don’t worry - you have a lot of free time in college.

I had a four hour bio lab last year. I ended up liking it more than the lecture component, which was an hour and a half. Sometimes we did a shorter experiment and were let out early. On the days that we weren’t, the hours went by pretty quickly- a lot more quickly than I thought they would. (I was really intimidated by the idea of a four hour lab last year too.)

Last year my bio class lab Lasted for two hours but was scheduled for four. but it depends on how fast and accurately you work. I finished after two hours because my group worked fast. There was one group who always made a mistake and had to start over. They were there the full time and still never finished. Since it was the last lab of the day, they got to stay overtime to finish. That sucks, but I don’t know that too many schools do this.

4 Hour labs are definitely typical; I’ve had them for bio, chem, and physics. They really aren’t bad; they go by faster than they seem to because you’re legitimately doing stuff (most of the time) rather than just listening and taking notes.

Yea you shouldnt be surprised. It can be a bummer esp if your not into chemistry but it is not the end of the world.
