4 Reading Intensive Classes in 1 Quarter?

Is it possible to take 2 upperdivision English classes and 2 History classes and still get decent grades? Would that be too much reading for 1 quarter or does it depend on how dedicated you are?

Go for it. Worst comes to worst you can always figure out what reading is “required but optional.”

Has anyone ever taken classes like this? I just want to know if it is doable.

try it…you can always drop one

It all depends on the reading list and the class. If it ever gets intense you seriously will find out what is “required but optional”.
Some classes require you to have read the material before class each meeting, but if the professor doesn’t require active participation, nor quizzes you on all the readings, then you can technically skip them until necessary. Just make sure to catch up if your final or midterms require depend on the readings. Sometimes some classes will give you take home finals and midterms, which might involve just writing a paper about one/two books, which saves you from having to read everything.
But generally speaking, from my experience 3 reading intensive classes is doable. By reading intensive I’m talking about reading full books(less than 300pgs) per class per week.
