4 UC Transfer ?s

Ok. I have multiple questions so I decided to create one single thread for all of them instead of going and making one thread for each question.

I have to go to c.c. after making some stupid mistakes before graduating from H.S.

Thanks for taking your time to read and answer my questions

These are the UCs I'm leaning towards (UCLA, UCSD, or UCSB)

Is it possible to transfer after one year of c.c.? If it is, can it be at a sophomore level?
To get at least 3 years of university life.

After you transfer the new students are the ones that feel kind of left out since they're new to the school(juniors and freshmen). So if that's the issue, is it easy to adapt after losing those years at c.c.? is it easy to get along or meet the people of your graduating year? Is not a problem for freshmen because they all get to know each other their first year, but the rest of the junior class already knows each other so the incoming juniors are gonna be like "outplace". Most students stop living in the dorms after they turn into juniors.

(if the first question isn't possible) I hesitated during the month we had to submit SIRs. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. So before I realized about my decision it was too late to submit it. I wrote to one of the helpers at UCSB and she told me that they could place next year. In that case what do I have to do?

My main goal was UCLA, what classes should I take while in c.c. The assist website hardly shows any helpful stuff. Also there was somkething about an honors thing that supposedly helps me with getting into UCLA? Do all of your clasess have to be honors?

as for UCSD the c.c. have the tag sheet that show you which classes to take even if you don't join the tag program.

I appreciate all help that is provided. thank you. ;)

***I forgot to add something to thread. All this orientation thing that occurs, is it something that happens every year or only during the year you're new to the school. cause i hear that it's a lot of fun

That really sucks that it was too late to submit your SIR. Regardless, I think you'll end up in a much better school than UCSB with some commitment.

It is possible to transfer after one year of CC, but it's not necesarrily how long you're there but how many units you accumulate. 60 units is the minimum to transfer and that's only as a junior. Under rare circumstances (like yours I believe), a UC will accept sophomore transfers if you were accepted as a freshman out of high school.

As for what classes to take, it depends on your major. You should also wait for the new 08-09 articulation agreement. That site is about as good as it gets (better than actual CC counselors in fact) for finding out what you need to take to fulfill prereqs.

really?

cause everytime i go on to look up which classes to take for UCLA it only shows three paragraphs describing the school and its focus

What's your major?

cinema production/theater

anymore tips? anyone?

That is why only three paragraphs showed up. There are no real prereqs for the school of Film & Television. The best thing you can do is take the recommended film courses and a variety of other stuff that will get you to junior standing (60 units).

thank you so much

since there are not a lot of classes at cc that represent your major, make sure you COMPLETE IGETC, it is all or nothing thing, if you have it completed , then you will be exempt from general education courses at UCLA or other UCs, so that you can maily focus on your major.

after you are done with cc and admitted to UC, make sure to go to admissions offcie at your cc and request IGETC ceritification to be sent to unviersity.

Otherwise if you dont have your IGETC completed, university will make you take additional general ed. units

Actually, I think they'll just end up rescinding your admission.
