so usc was my top choice, but didn't get in because of my pitiful sat score. and ive decided to attend uci this year and hope to transfer whenever possible. but ive heard that transferring form a four year to another four year is extremely difficult, how true is this statement? also im planning to major in accounting so what would i need to be able to increase my chances to be accepted to usc? thanks for any help.

This won’t have anything to do with your “chances,” but to make your classes more likely to transfer for course credit at USC, use the articulation history with UCI Error; in selecting your UCI classes.

USC has no official preference for transfers from community college - you may be thinking of the UC system. To increase your chances, get a GPA of 3.7 or higher whatever college you choose to attend.

Good luck.

I wouldn’t say it’s very hard, especially since you’re coming from a university with a good reputation. I’d even say you have a better chance than those coming from community college. A 4.0 at UCI looks better than the same gpa from cc. The only slight disadvantage is if you’re trying to transfer as a sophomore, since they’ll only be seeing one semester of grades vs. 3 semesters. If you have a really good gpa and ec’s though, you’ll have a good shot! Good luck

so alememom how many of those classes within each part do i need to be able to transfer within my first year? or my second year? also will my high school gpa and sat weigh me significantly if they were on a low end? and is accounting/business a major that must have a high gpa to be competitively eligible?

-There is no minimum number of units to transfer. Accounting/business may or may not have specific pre-reqs, but I am not familiar with the specifics.
-High school GPA and test scores will be heavily weighed if you attempt to transfer with fewer than 30 graded college units complete. If you apply to transfer with more than 30 graded college units, your high school record will not weigh as heavily.
-Check the USC website for specifics on the requirements of individual schools/majors. The http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/990410-usc-2011-transfer-thread-264.html is a great place to post questions.

Good luck!

make the best out of UCI so that your application will stand out when you transfer. I was accepted to UCI honors program and i believe you can still apply for it even if you aren’t accepted. I think being in the honors program can help show your capability. Do community service and find intern opportunities get good grades and that’s about it
