I'm about to finish my sophomore year here, and because I'm changing to engineering, I probably won't end up graduating in 4 years. If I have to, I will certainly stay for a 5th year, but how often do people actually graduate within 4 years?

About 50% graduate in four years, for the Fall 06 cohort. Could be higher now; that figure is trending up.

Not that it matters for you, since “changing to engineering” probably means extra school time in your future. Unless you have taken the right courses already.

Well I’m trying to get into chemical engineering, so I’ve taken organic chemistry and I’m taking physics soon and fourth semester of math. And do you know if there is preference given to students with more credits?

Sorry, don’t know. Technical GPA matters most (after completion of required courses).

That’s fine. I was just hoping that more credits would give a preference.
