4 Years of Science?

I am a current junior, and I am currently deciding on what classes I want to take next year.

I took HN Biology freshman year, AP Biology + HN Chemistry sophomore year, and I am currently taking AP Chemistry.

I planned out my schedule:
-AP or HN English
-HN Calc AB
-AP Psych
-AP Stats
-AP Research
-CP Ceramics
-Gym (required)
-??? (Comp Sci Principles or Science)

I’m not sure what I want to major in, as I’m deciding between a career in the medical field, or majoring in business.

For science, the only classes that I could take next year would be AP or HN Physics 1 or AP Environmental Science. (I hate math though, I know I wouldn’t enjoy Physics at all)

Would it be necessary to take science next year since I already took 4 science courses? My Chemistry teacher says that it’s crucial to take 4 years of science, even though I already took 4 classes.

Hi, I’m pretty sure competitive schools want to see physics taken, so if you are planning on applying to more competitive schools you would probably want to take physics. What are HN classes?

Most colleges want to see physics. It doesn’t have to be AP.

What happened to the physics course you talked about taking in your previous threads? Honors classes are nice, but I think colleges expect to see physics.

I think more doors stay open for OP if he/she takes physics. I am not seeing a foreign language either, but I would put that ahead of AP Research.

Absolutely Physics needs to be taken. For competitive college admissions, the expectation is that all 3 lab sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) are on the transcript. It doesn’t have to be AP Physics.

The OP already has AP Bio and AP Chemistry which are rigorous enough, so regular Physics is perfectly fine.

To pile on - Physics should be on the schedule. I see four courses that I’d de-prioritize to a Physics course.

As a possible pre-med, you probably do not want your first experience in physics to be in a college physics course (required for pre-meds) filled with other pre-meds gunning for the needed but limited A grades.

If you hate math why are you taking HN calc and AP stats?

You do need to take physics. Just take regular physics.

Calc AB is an actual AP class and not ‘honors.’ Unless there is some weird way that OP’s school defines what is considered honors and what is AP.

Depending on the college, premeds might take a Physics class geared towards premeds that is not Calculus based. Either way it’s a bad idea to not take Physics in high school.
