4 years science a must?

Jr son working on senior schedule. Has already taken Honors Bio, Honors Chem and Honors Physics. Feeling compelled to take AP Physics to have 4th year science, but would rather take AP Euro History. Definitely not majoring in science. Probably Enonomics or Finance with Poly Sci minor. Can't fit both into the schedule with other requirements. Will also be taking AP Eng/lit and AP Gov. (taking AP hist and AP Eng/lang now)

How important is that 4th year science if you're not a science major? Will it hurt his chances of acceptance at schools like Wake Forest and Tulane?

Check with the college. Usually they want 2 or 3 and some require a lab. Three honors science courses will probably be more than enough at most schools for a non-STEM applicant.

^ Yeah, it’s best to check with the college. It’s usually not a must though; my friend got into Stanford REA as a science major with only 3 years of science.

Check the colleges of interest, but having one each of biology, chemistry, and physics is generally a more favorable science course selection than any other three years of high school science (and probably more favorable than four years that fails to include all three of those sciences).
