40 acre semifinalists

Congrats! @collegeapps2k14 – have you already been admitted to the university or are you still waiting to hear? Good luck with your phone interview!

My daughter made it to semi finalist too!

What time did the emails go out?

Congrats to everyone who made it. Guess I’m rejected :(. Good luck to everyone on the phone interview!

Always knew they would cut a black kid like me. Everyone knows Texas is racist.

My daughter received her email at 1:45 this afternoon. She is admitted (auto) and recently got into her major. There was a disclaimer that suggested the semi finalist notification does not affect admission status - so there is absolutely hope for those that aren’t admitted yet (no way to know if all 109 semi finalist emails went out in one batch)

“We are pleased to tell you that you are a semifinalist for the Forty Acres Scholars Program at The University of Texas at Austin! There are 109 semifinalists, and 50-60 will be selected as a finalist. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!” is the intro part. Then some stuff about a timeline for interviews and notifications. Email at 1:45 as well.

@Loganator‌, I’m an auto-admit and was accepted into my major and Plan II in November. Thanks!!

Congrats to the semi finalists!!

I am a semifinalist. I got the results at around 2 in the afternoon today!

@go4fan56‌ @dianeamherst‌ have you guys received an interview request yet?

No. You? Did you sent your updated résumé?

@go4fan56‌ Me neither. I sent my updated resume today so we will see if that produces a response!

FWIW, my daughter has had her interview already. She was contacted Friday via email and interviewed yesterday. I suspect that the regional interviewers are very busy and will get to everyone as soon as they can!

My D has already been offered full-ride scholarship at Texas A&M. She has also been selected as a Semifinalist for the Forty Acres Scholars Program…this scholarship would be a “game changer.” :-*

@jhttn102 do you mind sharing her stats?

My S received a “sorry you weren’t selected but thanks for applying” e-mail today – there were over 3000 applicants! That’s really competitive, so extra congrats to those of you who were selected as semifinalists! Keep us posted on your progress!

My D received the same “sorry” letter. We didn’t expect she would make the cut, but it’s always worth trying. If she is admitted, we will be elated and pay the the OOS amount. Hoping for good news to come.

Here’s my D stats:
Weighted GPA: 4.86
Unweight GPA: 4.0
Class Rank: 1st

She plans to major in Electrical Engineering.
I hope she will get the 40 Acres Scholarship.

Those are some awesome stats and experiences, @jhttn102! Congratulations to your daughter. Good luck with 40 Acres. I imagine she will have several great opportunities to choose from! How old was she when she decided on Engineering?

Thanks @lots2do‌ ! My D has always loved math, science, and writing; however, I think when she joined Engineering Club and Robotics in 10th grade that she truly acknowledges her future lies in engineering.
