40-(cough)year high school class reunion - please help with dress choice and accessorizing!

Agree about gold bracelet. Either thick gold or several thinner gold. No necklace. Can you pull off dangly earrings? I cannot but I think they might look good since you will not be wearing a necklace.

Red dress for sure. Everyone else will be wearing black trying to hide their flab (I would too ), but you have nothing to hide. Honestly I’m not crazy about the shoes, but I’m not much of a shoe person, and don’t think it likely matters much. Trust me, with that dress and that ultra fit body, nobody will be looking at your shoes.

Love the dresses, shoes, and the color and decor in your room! That charcoal wall color is fab!

Red dress is a gorgeous choice! (black is pretty too). I think shoes are awesome (nude goes w/all) and agree a nice (maybe thick) bracelet and earlings would be perfect (without a necklace as the top of the dress is unique and beautiful). Have fun!!!

I’m with Team Red. IMO, the black makes your bust look small. Agree about the earrings and bracelet. Shoes look fine. You’ll look fabulous!

I’m team red as well. I also want your exercise regimen!

I like both dresses but prefer the red. Have fun! Let us know how it goes.

I think gold or silver would both go well. I agree - no necklace, but statement earrings and a nice bracelet or bracelets. I am not one to worry about a purse/bag much. I might give my husband any important stuff I had to carry, and stick a lipstick and cell phone in a small black bag.

You have a great figure and both of those dresses fit you well. That being said, I would be a bit more conservative for a class reunion.

Team red. Nobody will be paying any attention to your shoes, I hope you have a great time !

I am a pretty faithful exerciser. I usually run a couple of times a week. I was running three times a week and building distance when I was training for my first half marathon which, sadly, was canceled because of Hurricane Ian. Now I’m back to just running twice a week. I also walk once or twice a week, and I do circuit training with light, hand-held weights three or four times a week. Nothing extreme, but I do exercise 5-6 times a week.

HTH!

@Hoggirl I’m not sure you need to worry about looking more conservative or understated for your reunion if your usual style is to dress up and look great for a formal event( which this sounds like it is on the fancier side). If this is your usual style when you dress up, just go and have fun! The red dress you’ve decided on looks great!

Although I’m one to not normally adorn asymmetrical one shoulder tops, for this dress I think you need something. There is enough room at the top that it looks a little plain and empty. More room than even the top I attached a photo of. Something gold and shorter would be nice.

I purchased the attached top and probably would have worn with just statement earrings, but love how this chunkier necklace adds to it, completes it. Not that your dress needs this exact style of course.

@conmama, is that ^^^ you??

Oh gawd, no. I wish.

That’s lovely, but I have never used this service. I’m pretty sure that dress would be too long for me and not hit me at the right spot. I really am one who has to try things on.

My dress was actually slightly under $100 as I got it on sale - yay me!

I agree that it needs a necklace. I would wear something classic (short string of pearls) or very simple (silver choker or simple drop pearl or diamond heart). Like one of the items on this page

Love the red!! both look incredible, but I prefer the red. Makes a great statement.

I would also do a single strand, but something interesting like some of these.
