I would skip it too. My philosophy is simpler is always better, especially with a red dress. You don’t really need anything else, but earrings are great, attention will be on your face, at least, not somewhere else, if you know what I mean.

Ooh, this is fun! And you look amazing in both dresses. BUT – I think the right dress depends on your personality. I think you should aim to look like your best ‘updated’ self, not a ‘new’ you.
So, if you were outgoing, fun, and ‘crazy’ in HS, then rock that red dress! However, if you were more the quiet, studious type, then I think the red dress looks a bit like you’re trying too hard to be someone you weren’t in HS.
(I was the latter, so even if I could pull off that red dress, I would feel like it was a costume and would be really uncomfortable and just look silly in it. It’s just not ‘me’)

My take was much the same as @UpNorth2019 but I’d tweak it to who you want to project you are now. I can think of classmates who showed up wanting to convey that they were no longer the mousy invisible girl but stylish, beautiful, and attention-worthy. And people noticed! I applaud this. And there are others who want to look attractive but not necessarily attract attention. I applaud this too.
My guess is that you would be happy to attract attention for looking terrific or you wouldn’t have considered the red. I guess, just saying, they both look fabulous – it’s really more about how you want to be seen at this event. And I like your choice!

Love the accessories! Bracelet is almost the same as one I used when wearing a red, backless, pantsuit to a formal event. I think it’s cool and modern. And mixing (diamonds and metal or mixed metals) is supposed to be very current. Agree on a necklace perhaps taking away from the cool geometric feel of the neckline.

@Hoggirl You have picked your dress(the red one) and it is great. Doesn’t seem like you are trying too hard at all, so I would put that thought out of your mind. Don’t think you need a necklace but I am less than fashionable so take my opinion on that with a grain of salt ! Enjoy your reunion!

conmama - I love that you got that cool, funky, stylish top! I probably couldn’t carry it off (I tend to more minimal) but it’s awesome! Also like the ‘lock locket’. Kind of punk-rock/street feel!

I think your accessories are great. I would definitely skip a necklace. My daughters (18 and 20) generally think wearing costume jewelry necklaces looks dated when dressed up. I don’t you need it, either.
I think nude heels are the right choice, and the thickness of the heel doesn’t bother me at all. I like the how strappy they look even with the closed toe. The only thing I don’t love is the strap up the middle, but I don’t know that I would have thought about it if you hadn’t asked for opinions!

If you have any concerns about cool temps and/or being overdressed … you could have a jacket or sweater. Macy’s and Dillards have all sorts of this kind of option. I just bough a sheer cape for a wedding reception, since weather will be unpredictable.
