Students admitted through Early Decision this year will represent almost 47 percent of next fall's incoming class, which is expected to include 1,705 students. Of the 797 students offered admission, 643 will enroll in the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and the remaining 154 will enroll in the Pratt School of Engineering.
...
Even with the increase in the number of students admitted, the admit rate for Early Decision decreased 5 percent this year, to 25 percent, the most selective Early Decision process in Duke's history.
...
Of those who applied via Early Decision this year, 691 were deferred to the spring Regular Decision process.

kickmeoff and alice, you are totally misinterpreting the numbers. Admission rate in ED is 25%, and is clearly stated above! The 47% is the percent of next fall’s entering class that was selected via ED. Please read carefully.

Oliver007 - not really…see 25% of the 3200 got accepted…furthermore, 691 are deferred…that is another approx 22%…so 47% is ALSO represents the number that were NOT rejected…hence, kickmeoff is right when he/she says that 53% are going to be flatout rejected…coz they are…the rest are either accepted or rejected…alice said the same…

Yes I calculated the numbers as texaspg did above me, it just so happens that 53% was also the number of students who will attend Duke that applied regular
