Actually hmmm…Is it 1.6 or 1.4 miles Unsure now.

It was 1.4
BCer here.
You had to subtract BOTH triangles (subtract .4)

so it’s 1.4, not 1.2 or 1.6

I think it is 1.4, like you said a while ago, Indianjatt. To make the velocity to be positive, Caren has to walk forward to school. So, at 4 min, she must have walked from her house to school after getting her homework. therefore, the two “triangles” cancel each other out.

(I’m beginning to dislike the AP Calc exam because some parts tricked me)

integral(6root of x,X,25,0) doesnt equal 500… indian integrate 6radx u get 4x^(3/2)… plug in… F(25) - F(0)= 2500. Is there something u disagree with on my integral???

It was 1.4. I hope I can salvage a point on that part :P, I gave like a paragraph long explanation.

the answer is definately 500 unless some1 sees a big error.

no, the answer is definitely 2500 becuase it is $500 to produce the 25m cable. So, since the sale price for the cable is 3000, subtract 500, and you will get the profit, 2500.

My answers that I posted are all correct except for the 6a part, just add x=0.
And Jerry, I did think that it had to be differentiable at x=0 for it to be a point of inflection which was what my reasoning was but apparently not many people agree.

How do people keep getting 2500?
I got 2250 too.

I thought it was 6sqrt(x) cost PER meter. x = 25 meters.
so 6sqrt(25) = 30

$30 per meter * 25 meters = $750 production.

$3000 - $750 = $2250 ?

I had to read the problem a couple times to catch that 6*sqrt(x) was cost per meter, but maybe I still misinterpreted it?

Jerry how are getting 500 as the cost of production??? theres no way to show that.plug 25 in to the profit equation how do u get 2500 as an answer??? can a bc’er please help me out on this no1 else wants to actually prove the answer.

ih8calc, I got 2250 too… i took it as (120*25)-25(6 sq.root 25) which comes out to 3000-750=2250

bekindrewind i got 2250 but i seem to think its 500 now.

“to produce a portion of a cable that is x meters from the beginning of the cable is 6 sqrt(x) dollars per meter”

quoted from the problem. I feel positive that it’s 2250, nobody has explained how they came up with $500 as production cost yet to me.

Most people put $2500.
Can’t be $500 because it says the profit made…

guys calm down there is nothing you can do about it now. talking about it only brings pain

(12025)-integration of 6square root of x from (0,25)

shoulda just put DNE b/c since Mighty Cable Company isn’t real, it can’t make a profit.

xcellerator. if the profit equation in part c is true… if u plug in 25 u should get the answer to part a. CAN ANY1 plug in 25 for me into that equation. show work. i get 500 everytime. idc if u think i am wrong just some1 atleast show me the equation with ur work.

ncc: lol!

jpl: but responding to this forum is like a coping mechanism for my stress over the AP Calc exam.

^hahhahah
I definitely BOMBED this test. =[ i don’t care that much thou.
