I’m registered for the biology sat subject test this Saturday. I felt pretty prepared as I was reviewing, but I just took the Barron’s diagnostic test and scored a 480. Even if Barron’s tests are pretty hard, this score is not at all what I was expecting. I have an SAT score of 2180 and I don’t want to risk negating that in admissions with bad subject test scores. Should I even take the test? What score should I be aiming for considering my SAT I score? Is two days long enough to improve as much as I need to?
Two days is plenty of time. I self studied about 3 days before the day of the test and scored a 770. A little disappointed because I thought it was really easy but meh. It is honestly much MUCH easier than the Barrons. Personally, I was scoring around 650 though. Perhaps you need to review certain topics. Which are you taking, E or M?
I’m planning on taking Biology M… Did you use any other resources to study? I’ve read Barron’s cover to cover, and I’m going back over a lot of it now.
Sparksnotes has a good review. I used that, my Campbell’s Biology book, and Barron’s and got a 760M.
Well, I took E. I looked at the Princeton Review a little but switched over to the Barrons. Two of the questions from the practice tests in the Barrons were the exact questions in the test. I was debating E or M, but there were just too many enzyme activity graphs when I flipped to it on the test day.
Honestly man, Barron’s is just way harder than the actual test. PR has way more accurate tests to prepare you. I took a Barron’s test yesterday and got around 660. But i have already given the actual SAT Bio once, and the stuff Barrons asks u doesn’t ever show up on the actual test.
Like PKU or Huntington’s or Down Syndrome being caused by a Trisomy of 21. Its all too specific for the SAT.
If your getting a 480 on Barrons, you should easily get a 650+ on the actual test!
Best of luck i have my test on Saturday too!
