48Hour Program Question

Does anyone have an opinion on the 48Hour program for first year students? It looks like weekend getaways for groups of freshmen. Is it a good way to get connected to BC? What are the costs?

I’d say around half of the freshman class goes on it. it’s nice but it’s pretty much your standard retreat–people come back saying how much they loved it, then it becomes “yeah it was alright”. i’d say it’s a good way to meet people at the beginning of the year, i went in like february which was one of the last ones and i met some cool people. it was about $120 or $150, I forget which, but I would recommend it just because a weekend away from BC is pretty nice.

Dear SFBayAreaDad : As a practical recommendation, advise your incoming freshman to consider 48 Hours during the Spring term - early if possible.

The Fall Semester will be spent exploring so many new aspects of living at the campus, exploring the local area, exploring Boston, and just learning how to time manage with courses/laundry/social events, that carving out weekend (particularly during football season) can be tough. By the Spring term, your freshman might be looking for an out-of-the-box experience at that stage.
