4th Class

Has anyone heard anything about English 52? I'm looking for a 4th class and this looked like my LitCrit Analysis from senior year. Also, is Psych 11 a weed out class, or is it not overwhelming with a terrible curve

I took English 51, and I'd imagine 52 is similar seeing that it says its an extension of it.

It was taught by a graduate student, and I absolutely LOVED it! One of my favorites at Duke. We read 5 or 6 different books. To name a few...Hobomok, The Linwoods by Catharine Marie Sedgwick, The Last of the Mohicans, The Scarlet Letter and a few more...just kind of books which represented different eras in American history. The class was really small (10 people) and mostly freshman. Basically it was REALLY chill...we just sat there and talked about the books the entire class.

In terms of assignments, we had 3 papers (3-5) and a final paper (10-12) on any topic from the class. I did decently well on 2 of them, ok on the 3rd, wrote a great final paper, participated maybe once each class (which translates to not much in a small seminar) and I got an A.

It wasn't a class I stressed about at all...it was just one I genuinely enjoyed doing the reading for and genuinely enjoyed writing papers for (I swear. The units we divided the material/papers into were interesting and you had a lot of material to work with for topics). I would HIGHLY suggest it if you are just looking for a random class to fill requirements.

Psych 11 is a course for nonmajors and is not weed out at all. If you are interested in psych you are better suited taking 91, 92, 97, or 99. These are the four intro courses for psych majors and 2 are required.
