check the March 29, 6pm= Decisions thread, it is discussed there

1:16 here, but i got this message:

"Thank you for applying to Duke University.
You have our best wishes as you complete your senior year. "

@Yoft:
This is actually somewhat of a relief to us. Perhaps the people with the longer message are the same ones who received likely letters? Can anyone disprove that?

There are way too many 1:16s. Everyone just calm down. We’ll find out tomorrow.

535 and I got the short message

same. I’m a 1:16 with the short message. I think swagger just made that up because no one else has that second sentence in their message…

Guys that person is just ■■■■■■■■. Relax.

yeah that 1:16 message with the whole “we enjoyed reading your application” part is definitely NOT uniform across 1:16, if thats what the other poster actually got. i have the short message.

@SwaGGeReR
Did you get a likely letter?
or
are you just a regular applicant?

There’s no way what swaggerer posted is true so just ignore him.

So Swaggerrer you got the following message and you are 1:16er rite?

Thank you for applying to Duke University.
We thoroughly enjoyed reading your application, and we were very impressed by your personal attributes and your many accomplishments. You have our best wishes as you complete your senior year.

I’m a 1:16er, and got the short message.

Swagger is pulling our leg (I did the same thing yesterday I have to admit).

We need to two things to give us some hope:

1) Someone with a likely letter with a 5:35
2) A link to where the EA acceptances proved the times are not predictive

Did anyone here not get an interview but applied before the deadline? I applied before December 10th for the interview, but I never got contacted for one. My friend who also applied by the date, did get contacted for an interview. I live in St. Louis, maybe not enough alumni to interview everyone?

i didn’t get an interview but i did have my cousin write a rec for me

I didn’t even get a message! How did y’all get a message?!? Where?!

Just kidding. I got the short message.

Baby baby baby ohhhh
I’m like, baby baby baby OHHHHH

The song’s stuck in my head.

And I don’t think either time slot means definition rejection or offer. How can Duke do this possibly for years without applications ever catching on, can you imagine? There will probably be a random mix as we find out tomorrow. I just have a hunch, which is of course always the number one reliable source.

Chillax and go listen to some Justin Bieber.

Just called Duke, they said:

“1:16 submissions are those who are overconfident and conceited, 5:35 are those who are humble and patient.”

VERBATIM

Woohoo for 5:35ers

I’m a 1:16 and there is no possible way I was accepted to Duke University.

This theory is bunk bra.

And I apologise for the typos…and possibly for not adding anything new or useful to this thread.

If it gives you all comfort, I am a 1.16er. Do I sound like a respectable Duke acceptee to you? Rhetorical question :)
